What are the advantages and disadvantages of using video calls for therapy or hypnosis sessions? June 19, 2025

First, you need to understand that licensed therapists are to use HIPPA compliant applications for their sessions so that is the first problem for therapists.

Second, there are issues with the WiFi connections being less than perfect, and disconnecting at times. So, this is an annoyance that would need to be dealt with during the session. I have never had an issue with clients dealing with poor connections to WiFi disconnections. We hang up and begin where we left off in both cases. I take comprehensive notes so I know what has been spoken about and where to begin when we reconnect for the session.

Overall, I believe a great majority of my clients prefer to have online sessions because they don’t need to pay for the gas (an ever-increasing commodity these days), take the time, or deal with traffic to see me. There are other considerations, though such as not being interrupted by one’s family members while in session, dogs barking, etc.

I have been doing all my work online as I have been traveling the world since Oct, 2019 and frankly my clients are having a great results as they ever did in person (having begun doing online sessions back in 2015).
