The Frustrations Beyond a Diagnosis of Type 2 Diabetes

The Frustrations Beyond a Diagnosis of Type 2 Diabetes – Vol. 560, August 6, 2020

As I have been working to build my new free private Facebook group for Men between the ages of 40 & 60, I have found that many are so confused by following their doctor’s advise, and yet their doctor being miffed as to why it is that the blood sugar readings are all over the place.

As a patient, this is very concerning because one wants to believe that their doctor has a clue as to how to help them to gain control over the health crisis, fearful of the complications that can occur if control is not had.

The very sad fact is that controlling the blood sugar has little to do with the disease, other than being a symptom of what is occurring in one’s body. The idea that controlling the blood sugar is to do anything with reversing the metabolic condition that type 2 diabetes is, is wrong headed and dangerous.

So for all you folks out there who have been diagnosed with this condition and are wondering why it is that things are getting worse instead of better let us have a little bit of an explanation of what is happening physiologically in one’s body that is creating the problem in the first place. With that knowledge, you will have a much better idea of how to best take care of yourself.

Just so you understand that I am not making up the issue of blood sugar not mattering (unless our sugars are in the 300 and up range) I want to bring your attention to evidence-based testing in the laboratories to demonstrate to you what was learned.

The Accord Study was a 3-year-long study based on 10,000 patients who were split into those who were tightly controlled versus those who were not tightly controlled Here’s the interesting thing: over 3 years the tightly controlled subjects had a 20% increase in DEATH, while 27.8% GAINED 20 plus pounds.

Three other studies came out:
1. The Advanced Study that had a long term follow-up for those controlling their sugars. The study showed that controlling sugars doesn’t help them get better.

2. Low A1C is not good for you at all according to an article in the Lancet that reported on an April 2010 study of 27,965 patients intensified from oral monotherapy (taking one pill) to combination therapy (one pill plus another pill + insulin). It was shown that a person with a HgA1C of 6% had the same risk of dying as someone with a 10.5 HgA1C

It is obvious that based on the studies that we are chasing the wrong thing. So what is the real CAUSE of Type 2 Diabetes?

Think of it like this: If you have an abscess, you have an infection. If it is a bacterial infection you need to treat it with antibiotics. You don’t treat the fever. When you treat the infection the fever goes away.

High blood sugar is a symptom of insulin resistance.

Almost all patients get worse with the traditional medical treatment over 10 to 20 years as the medication doses go up, while the diabetes is getting worse.

You can do liposuction to get rid of the fat and it does nothing for diabetes.

The acute profound caloric reduction is one way to help reverse type 2 diabetes.

3. In the Counter Point Study, Dr. Taylor found that those with insulin resistance and beta-cell failure who had a major decrease in the calories eaten will reverse the type 2 diabetes. In fact the sugar comes down in 7 to 8 days.

There was a 37% decrease in liver fat which came down fairly quickly.

Pancreatic fat comes down. The beta cells start to work again.
The problem was that the beta cells were blocked up with a lot of fat.

There is a relationship between those with diabetes and fatty liver – the fatty liver LONG precedes diabetes.

As you reverse the hepatic (liver) fat, diabetes reverses itself.
The fat in the liver is easily accessible, so the liver is the first place the fat comes out – not the subcutaneous tissue (fat that is right under the skin).

Reducing the liver fat, seems to reverse the diabetes.

So, how do you get that fatty liver in the first place:

High insulin levels
High carbohydrates

Eat food > increases insulin > stores fat in the liver & produces fat in the liver.

When you don’t eat: Process happens in reverse: decrease the insulin > burn the stored sugar in the liver and then the fat in the liver gets burned.

What Happens to Excess Carbs?

1. They are oxidized for energy
2. Do Novo Lipogenesis – (fat is exported as Fuel).
3. Stored in Liver

How to get Fatty Liver:

In a study subjects were given an Extra 1,000 calories with lots of sugar – only 2% weight gain HOWEVER THEY HAD A 27% increase in liver de novo lipogenensis 27% in liver fat

This is how you make fah Grau with geese – whose liver gets eaten when their liver gets fat.

There is a Correlation of Hepatic Fat and Insulin Dose

77% correlation between how much fatty liver and how much insulin they take

Type 1 diabetics have very low blood sugar and have no fatty liver.

Eat food. – stored sugar – glycogen

Insulin DOES NOT GET RID OF THE SUGAR. Instead, it takes the sugar that is in your blood and pushes it into all your body parts, rotting your body parts.

Insulin Resistance: it is very hard to store sugar in the fatty liver. It takes more force to move that fat, which is the ‘insulin resistance’. Think of a balloon that is filled to capacity. All the people who are taking insulin are keeping it bottled in the liver.

What is happening in Type 2 Diabetes is that you have the high carbohydrates > release insulin > fatty liver> leads to hepatic insulin resistance (terrible cycle). The insulin is causing the insulin to go up but it is even worse because:

Some of the fat goes to the pancreas where you get fatty pancreas > beta-cell dysfunction > sugars go up > fatty liver > hepatic insulin resistance.

Insulin causes Type 2 Diabetes! If insulin is causing it, INSULIN is the problem.

Decrease insulin and decrease carbohydrates

This where we Pull the fat out of the liver > reduce insulin resistance > reversal of beta cell dysfunction.

(Low-fat diets are high in carbohydrates so that increases the sugars in the body producing too much insulin!) Why give more insulin to a patient who already had too much insulin? If you give an alcoholic more alcohol to get rid of their shakes but harms alcoholics.

It’s all about lowering the insulin driving the cycle backward.

“The practice, observed by many clinicians in the old school, who advantageously fasted their diabetics one day a week has given the cue to intermittent fasting.” p. 679

Intermittent fasting can certainly help one to get their type 2 diabetes under control, however it should only be done for no more than a couple of days at a time max. In most instances shortening your eating window to 8 hours a day is sufficient to help one to reverse the condition.

Please study this information if you or anyone you know has type 2 diabetes because it will help to better understand what is actually going on in the body, the ‘cause’ of the problem so that one can better heal.

The conventional doctors do not follow this model. They are brainwashed into the medical model by their medical training and are forced to sell drugs by the medical industrial complex that employ them. Unfortunately, doctors are no longer allowed to practice medicine using their own sense of what is helpful and what is not. So, we, the consumers of medical services need to get educated by those who are willing to take a deeper look and teach us what we need to know.

***Credit for the model above goes to Dr. Jason Fung who is a nephrologist who was confounded as to why his type 2 diabetics were going into kidney failure. So, he did the research to better help them and learned that this is indeed a reversible condition in 90% of the cases.

There are other things that folks can do and we will cover those in future weblogs.

The information that will be shared there may very well safe your life, and if not that, at least increase the quality of your life as you learn how to heal your condition and reverse it safely and quickly.
