Some Truths I have Found About Mental Health Provision from 30 Years in the Business – August 7, 2025

In my 30 years of experience in mental health, several truths have emerged.

1) Wounded healers’ Wound:

A) Triggered by their patients

B) Tell their patients what they are thinking and feeling

C) Can spend the patient’s time speaking about their own problems

None of these are helpful, all of them destructive to the healing process of your patient – the person you are being paid to help.

2) Healed Healers Heal: When an individual has first taken care of their own emotional problems before daring to believe that they can help anyone before taking care of themselves first, miraculous healing occurs. This is why so many patients of yours end up as patients/clients of holistic & complementary healthcare providers, including myself.

NOTE: There is no such thing as a “license to practice hypnotism” in the U.S. One can get many certifications with many specializations based on the methodology (Ericksonian Hypnosis, Elmanian Hypnosis, or NLP) or specific ailments to be treated, (pain reduction, IBS, emotional release, etc).

3) Patients/clients have all their answers, though often these answers are in the subconscious mind of the client/patient – which the vast majority of mental health providers have zero idea how to access.

Taking a one-weekend course does not make you an expert. Like any healing modality, it takes lots of training and even more practice to learn – best achieved with the help of a well-practiced provider as you work with your patients so you never learn bad habits. This is while learning the most effective ways to help your patients heal. I

In terms of the training I offer, you clear your own issues with every technique you learn. This way you, as the trainee, get a visceral understanding of the strength and efficacy of each of the techniques you learn & then you learn how to apply the technique to others. Using this method of training, you will have full belief in your ability to use these techniques effecitively, bringing you a success rate with your patients no matter how complex you could never believe possible. This I can promise you.

4) Use methods proven to work with real people. Frankly, I am not big on ‘theory” because theory does not heal. The theory is a hypothesis given why some interventions may work. Instead, use healing modalities that have been proven to heal, such as hypnotism (guided imagery, meditations which are guided imagery, clearing the subconscious, certain types of mindfulness, and any other bullshit name one can give to what rightfully needs to be called: HYPNOTISM.) Hypnotism deserves the credit it has earned since the 1700s and 1800s. It is time to credit those who taught us how to do it!
