Hypnosis Proven to be an Altered State Through Research – Vol. 129, Dec. 8, 2011

As you probably realize there has always been a question about the existence of what is known as the hypnotic state. The instructors of hypnosis teach their students that the brain waves as shown on an EEG machine in the alpha and delta state proved beyond a reasonable doubt that the hypnotic state exist. This is the manner in which I explain the “proof” of the hypnotic state’s existence to my clients. However, there was a research study that was just published on October 24, 2011called “The Existence of the Hypnotic State Revealed by Eye Movements” in PLos ONE Journal. The research was underwritten by Signe and Ane Gyllenburg Foundation neither which had any role in the study design, data collection or the writing or publishing of the research by researchers: Kallio, Hyonna, Rvonsuo, Sikka, and Nummenman.

The researchers were able to reliably demonstrate various changes in both automatic and volitional eye moments that correspond with the changes referred to in literature on what is commonly known as the hypnotic “trance state”. In a highly hypnotizable subject the researchers were able to reliably demonstrate large and objective changes in the optokinetic reflex, which means that the eyes can follow objects in motion with the head remaining stationary. They also were able to show the pupillary reflex and the programming involved in the quick, simultaneous movements of both eyes in the same direction as the to a single target. Control subjects could not voluntarily imitate these phenomenon reliably. The researchers believe this research demonstrates the ability of some hypnotized subjects are brought into an altered state that is qualitatively different from the normal state of consciousness.

Now that you know that there are currently two objective ways to prove that the hypnotic state does exist maybe you would be more willing to use it to clear yourself of any habitual, thought or behavioral problems that have been creating some distress in your life. It is a very relaxing state to be in, bringing one to the same state of mind that one would be in while in a meditative state. Because hypnosis is an altered state, one is by definition in a dissociated state allowing one to feel great relief upon being emerged from the hypnotic state. It is really one of the quickest and easiest methods to be used to clear those problems that are making one’s life problematic.

This particular part of the interview with John Gray was full of information. You would be best served to listen to the podcast in I-Tunes, accessible for free, because to try to do it justice here would be to leave out magnitudes of information that you will most assuredly find most helpful. This is especially true if you are a person who takes over-the-counter medications or prescription medications on a regular basis. It John’s belief that these chemicals that many of us ingest without really thinking about the long term effects, created the huge increase in mental illness we are seeing in our population. This chemicals are damaging to our body, disrupting our brains’ ability to function as free radical damage is done  creating the loss of normal healing functions of our brains.

In the earlier part of the interview John speaks to the gender differences between men and women and how it was that his hyper focus caused his Parkinson’s Disease, working 18 hour days between counseling, traveling the world teaching and of course writing his books. The hyper focus that allowed his wife to feel loved in the beginning of their relationship was lost to his hyper focusing on his work. He realized that hyper focus was a symptom of ADHD that he had that had gone undiagnosed. When he healed his Parkinson’s Disease with nutritional means, unwilling to take ever higher doses of medication till he found himself suffocating to death. Really folks, this is what his doctor told him the medical treatment would lead to, so he did the research to find out what he needed. He was able to form new dopamine receptors in his brain and stop the “down regulation” of his dopamine allowing him to have a balanced and happy life. His wife was thrilled to have her old husband back.

John also explained a bit more clearly what manic depression is all about since I shared the fact that I was so over medicated on lithium that he created all sorts of problems for me. I was lucky to have a psychiatrist at the time be willing to do the requisite testing to find out that my kidneys were slowing down, taking me off the lithium. I was given further luck in being able to stop all psychiatric intervention with the help of Tad James’s Time Line Therapy ® process, once I was told what emotions I needed to clear. As interesting as that is, John thought that my being on the asthma medication for only one year was most likely the precursor to my manic depression. This was a whole other hypothesis why I developed it. I was under much stress at the time which of course is the cause of many illnesses especially if you have a predisposition as I did given the genetics in my family of origin.

Lastly, John went into much detail in how the men need 30 times more testosterone than woman. When men put out effort to be “successful” they use up their testosterone and feel they deserve a rest – to chill out and restore their testosterone.

Women on the other hand need to give and receive love and care. Women find it easy to give love and care and find it difficult to receive it which depletes their oxytocin making them unhappy. So we of the opposite genders need to learn how to respect our individual needs to create happy and fulfilling relationships. John goes into a lot of detail on this subject as well so I highly recommend you listen to the interview to gain some very useful knowledge, especially if you are in a relationship that may not be going as smoothly as you want it to.

Recently I have moved from a place that I lived for the past 13 years to a smaller apartment. Now, any of you who have gone through this process can understand the concept of clearing out all the stuff that you no longer need. As hard as this exercise may be, there is I believe a harder one that many of us have difficulties getting through. This would be in the area of reviewing the relationships that you have in your life. I bring this up because I have realized that there were some relationships that I had that were not very healthy for me, others that needed to be reformatted so that I felt that I was receiving the attention that a caring long term relationship should have and releasing others that were not of any use and in some cases creating a negative energy that was not welcome. During John Gray’s interview he educates the audience in the ways that medical doctors are limiting their care to medicines that may help with the symptoms, but create many side-effects, some of which lead his brother to committing suicide, no longer desiring to live with them. John explains how lithium carbonate is the medicine of choice for the medical professionals even though it creates all sorts of negative side effects. People gain weight on it, since it is a salt, and as I learned in nursing school, water goes to where salt is, so water weight is what is being carried. Some people have tremors as I did and some people just don’t like the way they feel on the stuff as was true for John’s younger brother.

John explains how our food is absent of the proper grounding minerals we all need to be healthy and grounded – something his brother didn’t have as a result of the severity of his illness. Lithium Orotate is much safer and helps manic depressives and depressives to even out their mood swings. It is an over-the-counter drug which is probably why it isn’t used by the medical community. He goes on to explain other minerals in the orotate family that we can take that will help us to be grounded and healthier.

We also spoke of the issue how stress brings out mental illness and what we can do about it. I spoke of my own daily morning routine of journaling, writing my gratitudes and reading and doing self-hypnosis to ground and center myself so that I can be at my best while working with my clients. John said that we have to respect each person’s methods of grounding, though he prefers using the supplements that he has found to help him feel healthy and I would even say youthful. The man looks twenty years younger than he actually is.

Ditch Negativity: Get Aligned with Spirit – Vol. 127, Nov. 24

These past few weeks have been rather challenging for me. Though in the past I realized how to get above most of this stuff, I too am a human and sometimes fall into a zone of disbelief when my world seems to be falling apart from underneath me. The operative word here is “seems” as my very good friend out in Seattle pointed out to me.

While we were on the phone last week this friend of mine was telling me how all her dreams were easily being put into place without much work on her part. She has spirit guiding her intentions into reality. She realized that given the intention that I had a couple of years ago to make my way to Israel without the financial means of doing so and making it happen, that I too could work with my intentions to create the life that I want.

She went on to tell me about Wayne Dyer’s book The Power of Intention. In it he speaks of how one needs to shift from the desire to want something to the belief that they already have the end goal accomplished. This isn’t anything new to me considering this was a basic principle that was taught in the Master Practitioner training on NLP that I took back in 2004. The way it was suggested to have our clients receive their results was to have them imagine getting their goal, figuring out when they knew they had their goal and then to place it in their time line. An example of this for me would to know that I was taking a trip abroad when I was boarding the plane. For you in a similar situation may be when you have your airline tickets. It varies for everyone.

With Dyer’s take on things, one cannot place their intended goals into their time line because Source (the Creator, God) doesn’t work in the time that we give, it works in the time that Source needs to allow the goal to take place. However it would be in your interest to have your intention align with the goal manifesting in a timeframe that would be useful to you.

My message to you is simply this: If you are having a difficult time do get yourself involved in some spiritual practice to get yourself aligned with the greater force of “the Source” as Dyer calls it. It is within yourself and all that is available to help you to attain that which you know is your true calling here on the earth. We each have one and need to get aligned with it. This is how my friend in Seattle has managed to set her dreams into reality – aligning with that which is greater than her and allowing her spiritual guides to show her the way. It sounds as if she is well on her way with the correct people coming into her world to help with all the things she doesn’t know how to do and doing the things that she is shown the way to do making the seemingly impossible possible.
