Is it possible for people to experience emotional pain while being hypnotized?

Yes, people can experience emotional pain while being treated for trauma by a clinical hypnotist. However, the beautiful thing about being in the hypnotic state is that one is dissociated from the conscious mind since we are working in your subconscious mind, so when one has completed the letting go of the emotional issues, and is brought out of the hypnotic trance state, back to their conscious level of processing information, the usual response I receive from my clients is that they feel ‘lighter and brighter’ no longer burdened with the emotional charge that was once causing them emotional problems.

Often my clients can go through their entire healing process laughing and having a great time. However, sometimes clients who are more emotionally sensitive will cry. It is also great to see individuals who have not allowed themselves to cry in decades holding in their emotions, especially males, who have been socialized to never allow themselves to cry at least in public. That means they have been holding all these sad feelings (or whatever emotion is causing the tears) to be stuck inside them for sometimes decades which can lead to the development of autoimmune illnesses and psychiatric illnesses. So, I have my clients get all their emotions out and then we can move on with the session.
