Is it helpful to get therapy when one isn’t experiencing life’s problems?  Vol. 552, June 11, 2020

This was a rather interesting question that someone asked me on Quora because many times people have no idea how many types of services are out there to help with different types of human issues. Here is how I answered the question:

Therapy is a word that is used to refer to people who are going through life difficulties – usually to do with either emotional or physical issues (like in physical therapy). However, there are times when people can use a bit of support or suggestions in business decisions, relationships, and just those things that have to do with life.

I have gotten myself a lot of assistance of late which I don’t really throw into the ‘therapy’ box, for business development and mindset work. Back in the day when I needed therapy, trust me, I went all in to deal with the myriad of issues that were causing issues in my life taking me out of my life’s mission.

So, I think we need to be a little more careful about how we use the various terms. It is also very useful to go to the appropriate professional for the issue that needs to be resolved because there is a reason why there are so many people practicing so many areas of life improvement.

The smart people know that they don’t have all the answers and ask “How do I know who can help me do _____? Then they make the appropriate phone call or join the appropriate group or course to get the assistance/support required to move on.
