Why you are here

Painkiller addiction sounds so benign and deniable as a problem until your first trip to the emergency room. If you can’t stop taking oxycodone, vicodin, Percocet or codeine, then you may have a problem. Or maybe your issue isn’t as deceptive and you are a long time user of cocaine, heroin, or marijuana. You probably found this page by googling for an addiction counselor or drug addiction rehab. What you will find here is something much better.

More about me can be found on my biography page, if you find yourself interested. However, what I do want to make clear besides my certifications and trainings, is that I truly CARE about what I do. I choose to focus on a few specific areas of practice that I am vibrantly PASSIONATE about.

Why I’m Passionate about treating Drug Addiction

About four years ago I received a call from a 54 year old woman who had been addicted to Percocet for 15 years. She had a terrible situation occur when she went the conventional route to having her problem taken care of. She had been told to see a psychiatric social worker who asked her the usual question as to whether or not she had any thoughts of suicide. Being an honest person she had stated that she had. Understand, she wasn’t stating that she was currently suicidal, just that she had those feelings sometimes. Off she was taken by the police to the hospital to be evaluated for suicidal tendencies at 3:00 PM in the afternoon. After being there till around 1 AM, she was told by the last of five doctors that he didn’t even know why she was there. He told her to make lemon aide out of lemons. At this point, this client has been drug free for the past three years, without any inclination to use any drugs in any abusive context having been deterred from taking drugs in general. Since that time she has had a situation where she was given pain medication with codeine for a torn rotator cuff, and was able to get by with taking only three of the pain meds of the thirty she was given.

Through my work with this client I began my journey into working with prescription drug addicts. Since that time I have been able to help those addicted to cocaine, heroin and marijuana in a private setting that needn’t interfere with work schedules. It is hard enough to ask for help, and as such that action needs to be respected. It is also important to realize that one can be recovered from drug addiction without the cravings or withdrawals that one is going to find in a conventional drug treatment situation.

The Facts

According to the National Institute of Health Drug Addictions, 20 percent of Americans have abused pain killers, medically known as opiate analgesics. One hundred people a day die of drug overdoses here in America. The amount of people who have gone to the emergency room for a drug overdose has gone up five fold since 2000 while deaths due to overdosing have gone up four fold in the same time period. Since 2003 more people have died from opiate overdoses than heroin and cocaine combined. Since 2010 there have been enough prescriptions for opiate pain medication written to medicate every American around the clock for a month. The drugs are usually gained through prescriptions with some people being given the drugs from another’s prescription bottle.

Because opiate painkillers are the most powerful pain relievers known to man, they are prescribed for: post operative pain, dental procedures, back and spine injuries, traumatic pain and chronic pain. The only problem is that these medications are highly addictive not only because of their ability to relieve the physical pain, more because of the reduction in psychic and emotional pain they provide. Being able to get rid of negative emotions while bringing on a euphoric feeling, the feeling of being “high” is what sets up the person to become an addict. These drugs affect the same dopamine receptors and neurotransmitters of the brain as heroin. By releasing dopamine into the brain, the neurotransmitter a feeling of “pleasure” is created. These great feelings become more intense as ever larger amounts of the drug are required to over ride the tolerance to these drugs. The addict finds that the dopamine effect was “blown out” no longer experiencing the “high” that initially attracted the addict. At this point the addict has to take the drug to stave off the withdrawal symptoms having become physically addicted to the opiate.

People who have problems with alcohol and other drugs, high levels of emotional or psychological stress and problems with anxiety, depression and other mood disorders are at a greater risk to become addicted to these drugs. The American Medical Association reports that 37% of alcohol abusers and 53% of drug abusers have at least one serious mental illness. This comes to 29% of those diagnosed with mental illness abusing drugs or alcohol. Unfortunately very few doctors ask their patients if they have had any issues of addiction or mental health disorders before reaching for the prescription pad.

The Solution

You probably already realize that if you were able to clear this problem on your own, you would have done it. If you have already been in treatment, then you realize that though there may have been some positive results, the underlying issues are still there. The reason for this is because it isn’t your conscious mind that can help you, which is how the traditional programs work. It is your unconscious mind that needs to be accessed to heal the deep emotional pain that is the true cause of your drug addiction. Hypnotism is by its definition the art and science of accessing the unconscious mind where the permanent changes can be made to set you free of this potentially deadly class of mental illness.

I have treated many people who have this particular issue, and I have done it without judgment or prejudice. My practice in Billerica, MA is a SAFE SPACE where we can explore the underlying root cause of your behaviors and finally bring you the peace of mind and harmony of life you desire. Here at Dawning Visions Hypnosis, if you are accepted into my program I will do everything in my power to help you. Given the nature of drug addictions we will be committing a minimum of a year to your treatment. That’s right, if you are accepted, you can contact me anytime during that year if an issue pops up. I will be there for you every step of the way. You don’t have to be alone anymore.

Absolute discretion is assured and treatment times are flexible. The only person who needs to know about your issue is you. You don’t have to have an embarrassing conversation with your boss about why you need to go away for six months to a hyper-expensive Charlie Sheen style treatment program. Nor do you have to have an equally uncomfortable conversation with your family about why you are paying up to $250,000 to go into such a program. Treatment can be arranged around times that work best for you. And the amount of money involved will be small investment for an intervention that could potentially save your life and restore your mental balance.

Also, you did read that correctly above, I HAVE TO ACCEPT YOU AS MY CLIENT. While my passion is to help everyone, the truth is that your subconscious determines whether you are ready to be helped at this time. While you are interviewing me during your half hour free phone or Skype consultation, I will also be interviewing you.

Lastly, to insure that all of my clients receive the highest quality of care, I only accept 2 new clients in this category per month. Yes, you read that correctly, JUST 2 NEW Clients per month in this treatment category. While there are many treatment programs that will take as many new clients as they can fit in a room, how many do you believe will give you the personal, custom attention that your issues require? And if you ever needed a booster session because another issue came up, for those other programs, you would have to shell out ANOTHER $250,000.

If you’re read this far, you might already be familiar with the constant shame of hiding your addiction from your friends and family, feeling stuck in your life because this addiction takes up too much of your life, never allowing you to pursue those things that truly matter to you.  How tired are you of telling your SIGNIFICANT OTHER one lie too many and seeing “that look” in their eye? Stop the manipulation and TAKE CONTROL NOW!

It could be your mother’s birthday, a planned family vacation or your anniversary.  It doesn’t change the fact that I still care about helping you.
