Vol. 52, May 2007 – “What’s Eating You?”

Recently I had a client who could not understand why she was literally eating herself to death. She was in her 40’s and had been fairly healthy until recently; in the past, it was easy for her to go out running every day, which she had been doing to keep in shape ever since she was in the military. Yet, all of a sudden, there was no interest in running and she started eating sweets compulsively. What was going on here and could I help her with hypnosis? Continue »

Wow! My first session with Suzanne accomplished more for resolving deep emotional issues than I had done in six years of therapy. After one afternoon with Suzanne, my depression is POOF — gone! My resentment about chores and work is POOF — gone! All cravings for comfort food and comfort activities (addictive computer game playing, escapist reading) are POOF — gone! Continue »

Vol. 18, July 2004 – One Session to Look Great: Weight Loss Simplified

I bet you would not believe me if I were to tell you that it is a rather simple process to lose the weight that you have been holding all these years. I kid you not. Using the unconscious mind makes it all so simple. You see, what people normally do is tell themselves that they just have to eat less or work out more or use a bit more willpower. Let me tell you something. This is all about how not to lose weight for three very good reasons. Continue »

My initial purpose in going to Suzanne was not weight loss, but I lost 44 pounds!
I went to Suzanne because I had been bedridden with chronic pain for about 5 years and had ballooned from a healthy 135 pounds to 179! I had no energy and could not exercise. Also, I was basically rewarding myself for having pain by eating…which I did not realize until I was hypnotized. Continue »

“With hypnosis I find it so easy to walk right by Dunkin’ Donuts and I have no inclination to eat the ice cream I use to crave. With my regular exercising I have lost 10 pounds in a month.”

Vol. 6, July 2003 – Diabetes Mellitus in Youth Increasing

Looking at the front page of the newspaper today, Boston Globe, July 2, 2003, I saw the headline “Kraft looks to trim fats, sugar from its products”. There is a color picture of six stacked Oreos and a caption explaining that there are 20 grams of sugar (5 teaspoons) and 10 grams of fat (16% of the federally recommended fat intake for a day) in those six cookies. Apparently Kraft is feeling that the food industry must take responsibility to help fight obesity in this country. The article continues by explaining that the food industry could see itself being blamed for the increasing obesity, as the tobacco companies were held responsible for the illness that it created with its products. Adult rates of obesity have climbed from 13.4% in 1960 to 30.9 percent in 1999-2000. Continue »

Vol. 5, June 2003 – Easily Lose the Weight You Desire for Summer

It is now summer time and I bet some of you want to look as great as you can as you lie by the beach or pool. Maybe you made a new years resolution to lose that extra weight, tone up and feel great, but it just did not happen. Now that winter is finally gone for those of us who live in the more northern climate, we have the perfect opportunity to get out and get in shape. There is one problem and that is our eating habits. Some of us really like to eat, or eat to stuff feelings we would rather not experience. It takes a fairly short period of time for the clothes to get snug and for our weight to increase to a point that we never thought was possible. It can get difficult walking longer distances, going up stairs and getting around in general. For some of us the weight is starting to cause some health problems, high blood pressure, diabetes, etc. Diets do not work for most of us simply because they are about all the things that we cannot have. “I began hypnosis with Suzanne to lose weight in preparation for liposuction. In the first session some deep seeded emotional issues came up and my healing journey began. Suzanne designed protocols to address my personal issues. After a few sessions we returned to my goal of weight loss. I went under easily and memories of situations from birth through adulthood rolled off my tongue. I was amazed at my ability to recall so many separate but connected parts of my life. Continue »

Vol. 1, February 2003 – Hypnosis and Weight Loss is in the News

Hypnosis is being talked about more and more everyday in the popular press. I saw an article in the October 1st Woman’s World on how a person lost 65 pounds using hypnosis. And yes this was the cover article. The Boston Globe, Tuesday, October 29, 2002 did an article on hypnosis during surgery in order reduce the need for anesthesia, while also reducing the discomfort afterwards. Even the Harvard Mental Health Newsletter did not one article but a two-part series on the various uses for hypnosis in May and June of 2002. Obviously the larger world is looking to hypnosis as a way to deal with medical and psychological problems and in many cases they are finding that it is a great way to go. Continue »
