What are eating disorder effects and how to create a successful recovery for bulimia and anorexia

Why you are here

You may have been through one or more programs for eating disorders and found that though you may now be a bit healthier, your spending way too much time and energy thinking about your body and food while still engaged in food rituals. Or perhaps you are hiding your binging and/or purging behavior and feel you are living a double life, ashamed that you can’t get this thing under control. All the while suffering all the negative binge eating effects  and/or purging on your health and you are afraid of the long term damage. I would guess that you did a Google search of such topics that brought you here or perhaps you clicked on one of my internet ads. What I can tell you is that no matter how you found this page, you will find it to be different than what you will normally find when researching anorexia and bulimia health risks and how to treat bulimia and anorexia. It is something much better.

Why I’m Passionate about treating Eating Disorders

The first call received regarding eating disorders came from Carolyn S. She called telling me she had an obsessive compulsive disorder. After a bit of questioning I found out that it was a food ritual that she had that was attached to her anorexia. She had been hospitalized two times with an outpatient hospitalization.  At 5’9” she had a body of a model, in what appeared to be a slim build. What she wanted was to stop the food ritual. What she got was her life back, including being able to create healthy boundaries with those in her life.  She learned that she was bending over backwards to please the people in her life to feel  loved, when in effect she was getting more angry with each interaction. When she learned to please herself and let go of those resentments of others, her food ritual disappeared along with any lingering eating disorder based thoughts.

Shortly after working with Carolyn S, I worked with another young woman who was very concerned about her health based on her purging behavior. She had already done some damage to her gastrointestinal system including damage to her teeth. In her case she had a very controlling mother which brought on her anger both toward her mother and toward herself. With the release of this anger and finding love for herself, she was able to stop all the thoughts and behaviors attached to her bulimia. (If you want to know more about these stories, I discuss them in more detail among the case histories in my upcoming book on eating disorders. At the end of this page, I give you a method to borrow a free copy of this book and to download the “Induction for Eating Disorders” that goes with it for free.)

The Facts

One in 200 American women suffers from anorexia and 3 out of 100 women suffer from bulimia. Nearly half of all Americans personally know someone with an eating disorder. (At the end of this page, I will give a way to get a questionnaire to determine if you or someone you love actually has clinical, treatable issues with eating disorders.) Sadly the mortality rate of those with eating disorders is the highest of any mental illness. A total of 480,000 deaths result every year from complications brought on by eating disorders.  More women die, from the ages of fifteen to twenty-four, from eating disorders than any other reason, 12 times higher than any other cause. Yet only 35% of the individuals who have these problems ever get the help they require and of those 50% have a relapse rate if they are released while the weight is below 85%.

The National Association of Anorexia nervosa and Associated Disorders reported that 5-10% of anorexics die within 10 years after contracting the disease. After 20 years 18-20% of anorexics will be dead often from complications related to their eating disorder, including suicide and heart problems, and damage to the kidneys and brain. With malnutrition, electrolyte imbalances lead to low potassium and calcium levels which can lead to osteoporosis which makes the breaking of the bones more likely. Nutritional deprivation cause shrinking of the brain leading to death.

Bulimia nervosa is more difficult to detect because the person’s weight is fairly normal for their height. It affects 1-3% of adolescent and young women. Bulimics are known to have a hard time dealing with and controlling impulses, stress and anxiety.

Non-purging bulimics constitute about 6-8% of all bulimics. Instead of purging they will exercise or fast excessively after a binge to offset the extra 1,000 to 30,000 calories they ingested. So understand that just because you go to the gym regularly, DOES NOT mean you are truly healthy.

Medical complications of bulimia are: constipation, dehydration, dental cavities, electrolyte abnormalities, hemorrhoids’, inflammation of the throat, pancreatitis, tears in the esophagus, peptic ulcers, chronic gastric reflux after eating, erosion of the tooth enamel and swollen salivary glands.

The average cost of treatment is $1,000 a day equaling $30,000 per month, which usually isn’t covered by insurance. The cost of outpatient treatment can be as much as $100,000. Given the statistics here isn’t it better for you to learn more about this illness so you can take the necessary steps toward your own healing.

The Solution

You probably already realize that if you were able to clear this problem on your own you would have done it. If you have already been in treatment you realize that though there may have been some positive results, the underlying issues are still there. The reason for this is because it isn’t your conscious mind that can help you which is how the traditional programs work. It is your unconscious mind that needs to be accessed to heal the deep emotional pain that is the true cause of your eating disorder. Hypnotism is by its definition the art and science of accessing the unconscious mind where the permanent changes can be made to set you free of this potentially deadly class of mental illness.

Since Carolyn, I have treated many women who have this particular issue, and I do it without judgment or prejudice. My practice in Haverhill, MA is a SAFE SPACE where we can explore the underlying root cause of your behaviors and finally bring you the peace of mind and harmony of life you desire.  Here at Dawning Visions Hypnosis, if you are accepted into my program I will do everything in my power to help you including access to me for up to a year! That’s right, if you are accepted, you can contact me anytime during that year if an issue pops up. I will be there for you every step of the way. You don’t have to be alone anymore.

Absolute discretion is assured and treatment times are flexible. The only person who needs to know about your issue is you. You don’t have to have an embarrassing conversation with your boss about why you need to go away for six months to a hyper-expensive Paula Abdul style treatment program. Nor do you have to have an equally uncomfortable conversation with your family about why you are paying up to $300,000 to go into such a program. Treatment can be arranged around times that work best for you. And the amount of money involved will be small price for an intervention that could potentially save your life and restore your mental balance.

Also, you did read that correctly above, I HAVE TO ACCEPT YOU AS MY CLIENT. While my passion is to help everyone, the truth is that your subconscious determines whether you are ready to be helped at this time. While you are interviewing me during your half hour free phone consultation, I will also be interviewing you.

Lastly, to insure that all of my clients receive the highest quality of care, I only accept 2 new clients in this category per month. Yes, you read that correctly, JUST 2 NEW Clients per month in this treatment category. While there are many treatment programs that will take as many new clients as they can fit in a room, how many do you believe will give you the personal, custom attention that your issues require? And if you ever needed a booster session because another issue came up, for those other programs, you would have to shell out ANOTHER $300,000.

If you’re read this far, you might already be familiar with the constant shame of hiding your binging and/or purging from your friends and family, feeling stuck in your life because this illness takes up too much of your life never allowing you to pursue those things that truly matter to you.  How tired are you of telling your SIGNIFICANT OTHER one lie too many and seeing “that look” in their eye?

Compared to what you have been through, this program with all the benefits described above will set you back a modest $8,000 for the year. (A 25% NONREFUNDABLE DEPOSIT of $2000 will be required to book the first appointment. The rest will be due at first appointment.)

Take Action Now!

IF YOU CAN’T YET LET GO OF FEELING EMPTY AND SICK

Once again, I am completely NONJUDGMENTAL about your situation and the choice you make for yourself. Maybe you don’t have the money right this moment. Maybe you don’t currently see anything wrong with what you do. Maybe you’re even unsure about whether you even have a problem. Or perhaps, you believe there is something unique about your situation that prevents you from taking the action you require now. It could be your mother’s birthday, a planned family vacation or your anniversary.  It doesn’t change the fact that I still care about helping you. So here is my gift to you, on this page is a section (top right) for you to join my mailing list. If you join my mailing list, I will send you a link to my secret free gift page. On this page you can download a FREE MP3 titled “Induction for Eating Disorders”. This induction is a great tool to start your clearing. As for the  QUESTIONAIRE that I promised you access to, my upcoming book “Do I have an Eating Disorder? Now What?“(ISBN 978-0-9850382-0-5) will be available on the Amazon Kindle by early February, 2012. I will be making it available to borrow via the Kindle Owners Lending Library. The questionaire is included in that book.
